NAKSS APPLAUDS GOV. ABDULRAHMAN ABDULRAZAQ ON BURSARY; KICKS AT ACTS OF FRAUD & EXTORTION OF UNSUSPECTING NAKSSITES BY NEGATIVE ELEMENTS

- Opening of Portal for BURSARY PAYMENT to NAKSSites is a Testament of another promise made and kept by Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq

- NAKSS Has no place for miscreants who indulge in fraudulent acts to exploit innocent Students who are potential beneficiaries of Bursary

- The Comr. Muftau Shittu Atunlushe led band of Saboteurs and their acts of calumny will be resisted by NAKSSites in every guise & form

- Seeks Removal of Prior NAKSS Dues Payment as pre-requisite for application for Scholarship and proffers solution.

The National Association of Kwara State Students, NAKSS National Headquarters led by Comr. Adekunle Raphael Popoola on behalf of her leadership and over 1.6 Million members studying across Institutions in Nigeria and the Diaspora applaud the pragmatic steps by the Government of Kwara State ably led by His Excellency, Comr. Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq in translating "talk into action" by officially opening the portal for NAKSSites to register for the 2020/2021 Kwara State Bursary Disbursement for her members which commenced on 12th July, 2021. This is indeed another milestone to the credit of this incumbent Administration and a testament of Gov. Abdulrahman's character to make and keep promises.

The Bursary Disbursement which is to be implemented under the supervision of the Ministry of Tertiary Education in Conjunction with the Kwara State Scholarship Board is expected to be strictly monitored by the leadership of National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS) and other Stakeholders to ensure inclusion of all qualified beneficiaries and smooth application process for NAKSSites across her Chapters captured in the Scholarship scheme.

Sequel to the press release by the Ministry of Tertiary Education and the Kwara State Scholarship Board declaring open e-applications for the 2020/2021 Scholarship scheme for NAKSSites, verified sources have confirmed the activities of miscreants and fraudsters led by Comr. Shittu Mufutau Atunlushe aimed at extorting and defrauding unsuspecting NAKKS Members through serial double standard press releases made on the social media requesting members of the National Association of Kwara State Students to pay monies to them via unconstitutional sources as a prerequisite for receiving bursary.

We call on all NAKSSITES to disregard this call by imposters to payment of dues as a license to qualify for a process that the Gov. Abdulrazaq led Administration has initiated for FREE to provide succour for Students of Kwara extraction studying in Tertiary Institutions across Nigeria currently undergoing stiff economic challenges. This act is fradulent and premeditated to further bastardize the moral code of our noble Association, NAKSS and bring disrepute to His Excellency Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq who will never ask Students who do not have the means and are seeking support to pay a price for the succour he seeks to offer.

We hence reiterate that the Comr. Adekunle Raphael Popoola led NAKSS National Headquarters will stand firm and resist all forms of intimidation and fraud against her members by the Comr. Muftau Shittu Atunlushe band of Saboteurs who will stop at nothing to drag the name of our great Association in the mud in their desperation to survive even at the extent of attempting public extortion and corporate theft from NAKSSites.

We call on the Kwara State Government led by Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq the Commissioner of Tertiary Education and Kwara State Scholarship Board to protect the sanctity of a Bursary Disbursement Profile that has been implemented seamlessly by the Incumbent Administration to the administration of all and sundry across Nigeria and beyond by addressing the sole challenge that has come with the application process for the 2020/2021 Scholarship scheme for Kwara Students as outlined below:

1. Requirement of Payment of Dues as a mandatory pre requisite for application on the Scholarship portal:
It pertinent to note that NAKSSites are currently undergoing very stiff economic challenges Studying across their Institutions and can barely afford of subscribe to requests for payment of dues to the Association prior to disbursement of Bursary as reported by various Chapter Presidents of the Association on behalf of their members.

The Association hence recommends that request for upload of dues reciept on the application portal during registration be removed as a more fair, flexible and transparent procedure would be to tax only legitimate beneficiaries of the State's Bursary scheme through deductions of dues for the National Association of Kwara State Students, NAKSS National Headquarters at source upon payment to successful beneficiaries, this deductions will hence be paid electronically to the Association's Account.

This resolve is a result of extensive consultation with Chapter Presidents of NAKSS across Nigeria and Members in the Diaspora in line with the sane approach to making the Bursary Disbursement process fair and credible to all NAKSSites.

Our Administration charges all NAKSSites to remain resilient and be poised to support the Comr. Adekunle Raphael Popoola led NAKSS Exco to deliver on her promises to lead the Association to the greatest heights possible through justice and equity, building relationships with relevant stakeholders and the Kwara State Government that would translate into major gains for the Association and her members.

More Consultations will continue with the Kwara State Government, Ministry of Tertiary Education and Kwara State Scholarship Board to ensure necessary reviews are done to ensure Kwara Students seamlessly participate and benefit from the ongoing Bursary application process.
